The work I've done
We opened the Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Community Recreation Centre and Library, with child care and an indoor play space. We improved Cummer Park Community Recreation Centre, renovated the Fairview, Pleasant View and Hillcrest libraries, expanded the Fairview Youth Hub and opened a new youth space in the Sparroways.
Across the ward, we've delivered park, playground and tennis-court improvements and opened David Caplan Park. Participatory Budgeting has given residents a direct say in local projects in Pleasant View, Henry Farm and Bayview Village. I've also worked to connect local young people with summer jobs and opportunities in emergency response, and supported new long-term-care capacity at North York General Hospital.
Flood protection is part of that record, too. The City has made major basement-flooding investments in Pleasant View. Some residents nevertheless experienced flooding again during a recent storm. They deserve answers and continued work to protect their homes.
What I'll do next
Keep investing in parks, playgrounds, trails, libraries and accessible community centres.
Expand opportunities and spaces for young people and seniors to stay active and connected.
Improve roads, sidewalks, transit stops and the local infrastructure a growing community needs.
Strengthen stormwater and flood protection, and keep residents informed about work still to come.
Use neighbourhood walks, resident meetings and Participatory Budgeting to shape local improvements.
